What is WEDA?
WEDA (WISE-Edge Developer Architecture) is an integrated software framework designed to accelerate the development of AI+IoT solutions.
WEDA handles non-differentiating foundational engineering work, letting developers focus on AI innovation and algorithms—enabling rapid iteration and faster time-to-market.
Framework, Not a Platform
WEDA is a development framework that you can adopt based on your needs—using only the features you need. Unlike traditional platform services, WEDA provides modularized assets and infrastructure that developers can use directly to build, deploy, and manage Edge AI solutions at scale.
The Dual-Layer Architecture
WEDA is built on two synergistic layers that span from cloud to edge.

WEDA Cloud
Centered around WEDA Core—a cloud management platform that handles large-scale orchestration, device fleet management, and container deployments.
WEDA Edge
Runs on physical devices at the network edge. It includes the following components:
| Component | Role |
|---|---|
| WEDA Node | Edge agent: monitors hardware, manages container lifecycles, and maintains communication with WEDA Core |
| WEDA SubNode | Open-source framework for connecting sensors and industrial equipment to WEDA Core |
| Device Library | High-level library for controlling Advantech hardware peripherals |
| Ready-to-Dev Containers | Pre-configured AI development environments optimized for various hardware platforms |
For a detailed breakdown of each component and how they interact, see Architecture.
